Hi,

I need to implement product activation for a Mac application using our existing Solo Server. We've been advised to implement this using the Web Services API. I think I understand what needs to be done, but I haven't been able to find the specification for the APIs. A WSDL specification for the APIs would be ideal, because I can generate code wrappers from that, but I could piece it together from sample XML if that's what's available.

I have found a document describing the "new" activation features, but I don't see the web services spec in there. The referenced C# sample code doesn't to me much good without Visual Studio.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'd like to bump this one as well, but for slight different reasons. Primarily I'd like to see some VB .NET samples of the new web services.

Thanks

Doug:

All of our web services have the WSDL available to you. All you have to do is take the web service URL and append ?WSDL to the end of it. To get the URLs and more information about the various web services, log into your SOLO Server or Instant SOLO (whichever you are using), click the "Manual" link at the top-right corner of the screen, click the "Web Services" section, and click on the topic relevant to the web service you wish to use. Each manual page for the web services has a link to Instant SOLO's web service URLs (which you'll need to replace https://secure.softwarekey.com/solo/ with the path to your SOLO Server instance if you have your own). Once you browse to the web service URL directly, you can click the "Service Description" link or just add "?WSDL" to the address bar as mentioned earlier.

Also, which web service/services are you trying to implement?

Jon:

Which web services do you need VB.NET samples for? Feel free to email us at support@softwarekey.com with your Customer ID (if you're a prospective customer and don't have one, please just note that in the email) and what you would like samples for.

----------

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Abram

Thanks Abram,

It's for the ActivateInstallation, DeactivateInstallation and CheckInstallationStatus services. I'm afraid without a working sample project in VB.NET I'll never be able to get it working.
I'll send an email and thanks...

Hi,

I know this is a simple question, but where do you find the authorID value to pass along with the web services? I have looked for it in the Solo Authors area, but have not found the integer value that the web service is requesting. THanks in advance. I am using C# and currently looking at the CreateCustomer webservice.

Your Author ID would have been emailed to you when you signed up for the account. It probably starts with a 2 or a 3 and would be the same value as your default Login ID.

If you are unable to find this please email help@softwarekey.com and provide us with your company name or other contact details.

Regards,
Kevin
